Penggunaan kata kerja (VERB) I-II-III
Penggunaan kata kerja (VERB) dalam bahasa Inggris
dibagi menjadi beberapa bentuk utama, yaitu bentuk dasar (VERB I), bentuk past
tense (VERB II), dan bentuk past participle (VERB III). Berikut adalah
penjelasan mengenai masing-masing bentuk tersebut:
1. Bentuk Dasar (VERB I)
Bentuk dasar adalah bentuk asli dari kata kerja tanpa tambahan akhiran.
Bentuk ini digunakan dalam beberapa kondisi, seperti:
- Present
simple tense (untuk subjek I, You, We, They) contoh: I play, They run.
- Infinitive
(dengan "to") contoh: to
eat, to go.
- Imperative
contoh: Open the door!
2. Bentuk Past Tense (VERB II)
Bentuk past tense digunakan untuk menyatakan tindakan yang sudah terjadi di
masa lalu. Ada dua jenis kata kerja dalam bahasa Inggris:
- Regular verbs (kata kerja beraturan):
Kata kerja ini membentuk past tense dengan menambahkan "-ed" di
akhir kata. contoh: play
→ played, walk → walked.
- Irregular verbs (kata kerja tidak
beraturan): Kata kerja ini tidak mengikuti aturan tertentu
dan bentuk past tense-nya harus dihafalkan. contoh: go → went, eat → ate.
3. Bentuk Past Participle (VERB III)
Bentuk past participle digunakan dalam beberapa konstruksi tata bahasa,
seperti:
- Perfect
tenses (present perfect, past perfect, future perfect). contoh: have/has eaten (present perfect), had
eaten (past perfect).
- Passive
voice. contoh: The
book was written by the author.
- Sebagai
kata sifat. contoh: The
broken window.
Kata kerja bentuk past participle juga ada dua jenis:
- Regular verbs: Bentuk past
participle sama dengan bentuk past tense. contoh: play → played, walk → walked.
- Irregular verbs: Bentuk
past participle harus dihafalkan karena tidak mengikuti pola tertentu.
contoh: go → gone, eat → eaten.

- Bentuk Dasar (VERB I):

play football every Sunday.
- She
wants to visit her grandmother.
- Bentuk Past Tense (VERB II):
- He
played football yesterday.
- She
went to the market last week.
- Bentuk Past Participle (VERB III):

have played football for two hours.
- The
cake was eaten by the children.
